How It Started
I’ve always been a bit of a computer kid. Growing up, I loved gaming, exploring the internet, and anything involving technology. In middle school I even won my school’s typing competition, hitting 96 words per minute — something I definitely bragged about for a while.
But my love for design really started at home. My mom was the person who always encouraged me to go above and beyond on school projects. Instead of just doing the assignment, we’d brainstorm, sketch ideas, and prototype something unique. I remember one project about the ocean where most of my classmates made posters, but I ended up building a full 3D model of the sea. Planning it, creating it, and seeing it come to life was honestly the most fun part.
Being a first-generation kid also meant I became the family’s unofficial tech support pretty early on. My parents and grandparents often relied on me to help them navigate websites, apps, and new technology. Watching them struggle with things that seemed simple to me opened my eyes to how confusing and inaccessible technology can be for many people.
That’s when I started noticing the gap between technology and the people trying to use it.
As I continued exploring design and technology, I eventually discovered the world of UX design — and everything just clicked. It combined my love for creativity, problem-solving, and helping people navigate technology more easily. Since then, I’ve been focused on designing experiences that not only look great but are intuitive, thoughtful, and accessible for the people using them.
